2026 Wedding Décor & Floral Trend Favourites
If 2025 was about breaking the rules, 2026 is about creating your own.
Wedding design is becoming more immersive, expressive and wonderfully unexpected. We’re seeing fruit become décor, metallics mixed freely, tables curve through spaces, fabric spill onto floors and colour palettes move from beautifully understated to unapologetically bold.
At a|CREATE, we’re always watching what’s happening across weddings, events, fashion and interiors. Not because every trend needs to be followed, but because the right ones can spark a really good idea.
So, from our mood board to yours, here are some of a|CREATE’s favourite wedding décor and floral trends of 2026.

1. Sensory Styling: Good Enough to Eat
In 2026, your tablescape might look good enough to eat. Literally.
Fruit and vegetables are moving out of the kitchen and onto the table, becoming part of floral arrangements, installations and styled moments.
Think bunches of grapes spilling between candles, figs tucked into floral arrangements, lemons amongst greenery, beans weaved together and pears styled alongside beautiful blooms.
But sensory styling goes beyond food. It’s about layering texture, scent, colour, light and unexpected materials to create something guests don’t just see, but experience. The table is no longer simply being decorated. It’s being composed.

2. Metallics: Gold, Silver & Everything In Between
Why choose one metallic when you can play with both?
Gold and silver are sharing the spotlight in 2026, with styling moving away from perfectly matching metallic finishes. Vintage silver, polished chrome, brushed gold, warm brass and reflective surfaces can all find their way into the same celebration.
Think ornate silver candelabras next to contemporary gold details, metallic furniture paired with soft fabrics, or polished finishes contrasted against abundant florals.
It’s about mixing old and new, warm and cool, polished and imperfect. Metallics are officially staying on our mood board.

3. Plum & Olive: The Unexpected Colour Couple
Meet one of our favourite colour combinations of 2026: plum and olive.
Deep plum, merlot and fig tones bring richness and romance, while olive adds an earthy softness that keeps the palette grounded.
Use it across linen, florals, candles, stationery, furniture and smaller décor details, or add touches of cream and metallics to lighten the overall look.
Moody without being too dark. Romantic without being too sweet.

4. Cloud Dancer: White, But Warmer
White weddings will always have a place on our mood board, but 2026’s version feels softer, warmer and more layered.
Enter Cloud Dancer, Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2026.
This soft white brings a sense of calm to a space and works beautifully across draping, furniture, linen, florals and textured décor.
The secret to making an almost entirely white palette interesting is texture. Layer soft fabrics with linen, ceramics, glass, stone, sculptural florals and beautiful lighting. Without competing colours, every material gets its moment. Quiet doesn’t have to mean boring.

5. Draping Goes OTT
Draping was big in 2025. In 2026, we’re taking it further.
Fabric is spilling from tables, wrapping chairs, floating from ceilings and transforming entire rooms. Oversized tablecloths intentionally pool onto floors, while draped chairs create beautifully soft silhouettes.
This isn’t about perfectly pressed linen. It’s loose, layered, romantic and slightly undone.
Add dramatic lighting, florals or metallic details and suddenly a very simple space becomes something completely different.

6. Statement Lighting
Lighting has officially joined the décor conversation.
Sculptural lamps, dramatic pendants, glowing installations, illuminated bars and tiny table lamps are becoming styling elements in their own right.
a|CREATE Augmented has the right lighting that can completely change the mood of a space. Warm pools of light make a large venue feel intimate, while statement installations can transform what guests see when they look up.
We’re particularly excited about our portable, battery-operated lighting, allowing light to become part of the styling without traditional cabling dictating where it needs to go. Consider lighting part of the look, not an afterthought.

7. Curved Tables & Couches Before Dinner
Straight lines? Not necessarily.
Curved and serpentine tables continue into 2026, creating softer, more organic reception layouts and giving us plenty to play with from a styling perspective.
But the curves aren’t stopping at the dinner table.
We’re loving the move towards comfortable pre-dinner lounge settings, with curved couches, occasional chairs, cocktail tables and layered furniture creating relaxed spaces where guests can settle in before dinner.
Instead of treating pre-dinner drinks as simply the time between ceremony and reception, couples are styling it as its own experience. A beautiful bar. A statement couch. Great lighting. Somewhere to sit with a drink. Pre-dinner deserves its own moment.
PS. We’re launching our new serpentine couch soon! Keep an eye out on our socials.

8. Unique Landscapes Become the Décor
Sometimes the best décor is already there.
Couples are looking beyond traditional wedding spaces and choosing venues because of their architecture, surroundings and landscapes.
Vineyards, mountains, gardens, museums, private properties, industrial buildings and unexpected outdoor spaces offer something that simply can’t be recreated with décor.
And South Africa definitely isn’t short of incredible landscapes.
Instead of covering a venue, 2026 styling is increasingly about responding to it. Furniture can frame a view, a ceremony layout can follow the landscape and florals can reference what is growing naturally around the space.
Choose an unexpected venue for your event and let a|CREATE create something unique and beautiful.

9. Vintage Through a New Lens
The vintage aesthetic isn’t only influencing décor. It’s changing how weddings are being captured too.
Film-inspired photography, direct flash, grain, movement, candid images and slightly imperfect framing are creating wedding galleries that feel nostalgic and editorial.
And this influences event styling more than you might think. Couples are considering how tablescapes, lounges, bars, lighting and styled moments will translate through this photographic style.
Instead of designing only for the perfectly posed hero image, spaces are being created for movement and spontaneous moments. A little imperfect. A little nostalgic. Very cool.

10. Colourful Weddings Are Back
If there’s one thing we’re happy to see more of in 2026, it’s colour. And lots of it.
From bold reds and electric pinks to butter yellows, cobalt blues, oranges and unexpected combinations, couples are becoming far more confident with colour.
Some are even taking one colour and running with it completely. Red florals with red linen, red candles and red décor. Pink on pink on pink. Yellow from the furniture to the flowers.
Whether you choose one dominant shade or clash a few favourites together, the trick is commitment.
Layer different tones, textures, furniture, florals and finishes to create depth rather than simply adding pops of colour here and there. Pick your colours. Commit. Have fun with them.
END
2026 is shaping up to be the year of immersive styling, texture, colour and personality.
We’re keeping some of the ideas we loved in 2025, but giving them a new perspective. Draping gets bigger, metallics get mixed, curves move beyond the dinner table and lighting becomes part of the décor itself.
At a|CREATE, trends are inspiration, not rules. Throw the mood board out completely and create something nobody has seen before. After all, the best events shouldn’t look like everyone else’s.
